Cargo transportation to Turkey through new BTK route.

The development of transport logistics in Azerbaijan has been influenced by large investment projects, and we would like to speak about one of them.

Project: “Baku – Tbilisi – Kars” (BTK)

The current route has been created as an alternative for the cargo transportation in the direction of Asia – Europe through passing Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The carrying capacity of this corridor soon will be 17 mln tons annually, and at this stage this number is 5 mln annually. Today, we see great progress in the realization of this project, since large Russian companies began to send their cargoes through this route. The main reason for the interest in BTK is the possibility of reducing transport and time costs, which today are the most important indicators for companies to switch to an alternative route.
